CREW Community Guidelines
CREW is EVAD's optional athlete feed. It stays off until you claim a handle and accept these rules. Once you're on it, everything you publish is covered here: post captions, comments, and the handle, display name, bio, and sport on your public profile.
EVAD is used by athletes as young as 13. The bar is set for that room.
The rules
Don't post:
- Harassment or bullying. Targeting, pile-ons, insults about someone's body, or telling anyone to hurt themselves.
- Hate speech. Slurs or attacks based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
- Sexual content or nudity. CREW is a training feed. Sexual content involving a minor is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and the account is terminated — no appeal.
- Violence or threats. Threatening anyone, or glorifying violence.
- Content that promotes self-harm or disordered eating. Encouraging anyone to hurt themselves, restrict, purge, or "earn" food. Talking about your own struggle is not against the rules — see If you're struggling.
- Spam and scams. Bulk posting, engagement farming, off-platform payment solicitation, or selling anything.
- Impersonation. Claiming to be another athlete, a coach you aren't, a team, or EVAD.
- Other people's private information. Their address, their school, their phone number, or anything else about them they didn't agree to have posted.
- Illegal activity. Including sourcing or dealing performance-enhancing drugs.
Your handle, display name, bio, and sport are held to the same standard as a post — they're public text, and people see them next to everything you write.
The one rule that's specific to EVAD
CREW never carries body weight, body fat, or BMI. Not in a share card, not as a profile field, not anywhere. This isn't a setting you can turn on — the server refuses it. A post whose card tries to carry a body-composition value is rejected by a database trigger (posts_card_json_guard) before the post is stored, so it can't be worked around with modified software.
The reason is the age of the people using it. A feed of teenage athletes comparing scale weight is a machine for producing eating disorders, and the fastest way to guarantee that never happens is to make the number impossible to publish rather than discouraged. Your PRs, your streak, and the work you actually did are the scoreboard.
Your athlete profile — PRs, body weight, height, age, injury notes — is stored separately from your CREW profile and is never shown on CREW.
How moderation actually works
In order, from the moment you tap post:
- 1 — Pre-publication filter. Every caption, comment, handle, display name, bio, and sport passes a filter before it is stored. It runs inside the database itself, not in the app, so it applies no matter what software is talking to us. Text that breaks the rules is refused and the post is never created. CREW carries no photos or uploaded files of any kind — everything on it is text.
- 2 — Report. Tap ⋯ on any post or comment → Report → pick a reason (spam or scam, harassment or bullying, hate speech, nudity or sexual content, violence or threats, self-harm, something else). On a profile, ⋯ → Report athlete. You can add a note.
- 3 — It disappears for you immediately. The moment you report a post or comment it is hidden from you, and it stays hidden. You never have to look at it again while we work.
- 4 — Auto-hide at three. It is hidden from everyone automatically once three different athletes have reported it, counting only accounts that are at least seven days old. That age floor is deliberate: without it, two throwaway accounts could take down someone else's post. Reports from newer accounts still reach us — they just don't trip the automatic hide on their own.
- 5 — A person reviews it. Auto-hide is a holding action, not a verdict. Every report is read by a human, and content that review clears goes back up.
You can also block anyone: ⋯ → Block athlete. A block is mutual and immediate — you disappear from each other's feeds, profiles, and search. Blocks and reports are never disclosed to the person you blocked or reported.
What we commit to
- Reporter-side hide: immediate. Auto-hide at three reports: seconds.
- Every report acknowledged within 24 hours.
- Resolved within 72 hours.
- Severe reports the same day — credible threats, sexual content involving a minor, or someone who appears to be in immediate danger.
- Appeals answered within 3 days.
EVAD is built and run by one person. These numbers are set where they can actually be met rather than where they would look best, and they are the numbers we hold ourselves to.
If you're struggling
One category is handled differently on purpose. Language about disordered eating or self-harm is never blocked.
If you write something that reads that way, CREW shows you a card with the crisis line on it and then posts what you wrote if you still want to. Nothing is blocked, and nobody is notified about you. Hard-blocking an athlete who says they haven't eaten in days punishes the disclosure and teaches them to word it differently next time — which is the opposite of what anyone needs. We would rather see it and put a number in front of you.
988 — Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Call or text 988, free and confidential, 24/7, anywhere in the US. It takes eating-disorder and general-distress calls as well as suicidal crisis. Outside the US, or if someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number.
If the filter refuses something innocent
The filter has to live inside a vocabulary where clean and jerk, snatch, ass to grass, hip thrust, killed that set, and as many reps as possible are all ordinary training talk. We test against that vocabulary, and we will still miss some.
If CREW ever refuses something innocent, email us the exact phrase. It's the single most useful report we get, and the list is updated without waiting for an app release.
Enforcement
Depending on what happened and whether it has happened before, we may remove the content, restrict your ability to post, suspend your CREW profile, or terminate your account. Repeated violations and severe ones lead to termination. See Terms of Service.
Enforcement applies to CREW. Your training program, workout history, calendar, and progress belong to you and stay with your account.
Appeals
If a post or comment of yours was hidden or removed, or your account was restricted, and you think we got it wrong, tell us.
- Email evad.training.support@gmail.com with the subject CREW appeal.
- Include your CREW handle and roughly what and when you posted. You don't need to quote it back to us.
- We'll tell you which rule was applied, and answer within 3 days.
Being auto-hidden at three reports is not a judgment about you — it's a pause. If review clears the content, it goes back up.
Your own controls
In Profile → CREW & Privacy you can:
- Set who sees each post — My Crew (the athletes you have approved) or Only me — and change which one new posts default to. Those are the only two options: CREW is friends-only, there is no public feed, and the server refuses a post published any wider.
- Your account is private from the moment you claim a handle — a follow arrives as a request, and nothing you post is visible to anyone until you approve them. You can turn that approval step off once you are 16 or older; under 16 it stays on.
- Turn off discoverability in athlete search.
- See and undo your blocks.
You can delete any post or comment you posted at any time, and deleting your account removes your CREW profile and everything on it. See the Privacy Policy for what's stored and for how long.
